21st & 22nd February '09 - The weekend saw fighters from Phoenix attending the British Championships in Sheffield.
On the Saturday we had all the Light-contact divisions. Representing Phoenix we had Josh, Connor, Kirsten and Carl.
First out in the boys -32kgs was Josh, after 3 hard fights he lost out in the Semi-finals but had earned himself 3rd place and a bronze medal.
Unfortunately for the other 3 fighters they all lost out to split decisions from the judges after some really close battles where we thought they might go through to the next rounds.
On Sunday we had the Forms and Semi-contact divisions.
In the forms we had Josh (Crawley) in the Musical Forms with Weapons, when the results came in he was unlucky to miss out on the Gold medal by 0.3 from the 5 judges but earned himself a silver medal.
We had more successes when the fighting got under way with 2nd places and silver medals for Josh in the Boys -32kgs (his second of the day), Chris (Basingstoke) in the Boys -63kgs, Craig (Croydon) Junior mens -74kgs and Ross (Basingstoke) in the Junior mens -79kgs.
There were 3rd places for Stevie (Croydon) in the Girls -37kgs and Anthony (Crawley) in the Senior mens -63kgs.  
Also taking part but unfortunately missing out on the medals this time were Ruth and Carl.

Congratulations to all those that competed, all the supporters and well done to everyone that earned a top three placing and is now eligible to attend the W.A.K.O. Great Britain Squad Training.
