Anthony Claydon

Anthony began training in 1985 with Stephen Brooks at Phoenix Martial Arts in Crawley. He achieved his first black sash grade in 1990 and has been successfully teaching PMA classes since then. During that time he has also occasionally trained with other leading instructors, Neville Wray (Lau Gar Kung Fu), Mick Blackwell, Billy Brennan (Korean Karate) and Richard Vince (Kickboxing).

Anthony holds a 5th Degree black sash, a 3rd Dan black belt in Kickboxing (N.A.K.) and a 2nd Dan black belt in Korean Karate (EKKA). He is the 2007 Superleague Senior Men's -65kg Grand Champion and has twice been National Kickboxing Champion (N.A.K.), has represented Great Britain at the IAKSA World Championships on a number of occasions and at the W.A.K.O. European Championships. He has an outstanding record in Karate tournaments having represented the EKKA at the English and British Championships at both under 21 and senior level.

Anthony is a member of the Phoenix Martial Arts 'A' team and the associations Chief referee. He is head coach and is responsible for taking our squad members to tournaments around the world. He has produced many black sash students and Championship winning fighters. He is assisted in teaching all his classes by Laura Williams, who has trained with Anthony for over ten years.

As a qualified Personal Trainer (Premier Training International), Sports Injury and Massage Therapist he specialises in Weight Management and Nutritional advice. He teaches fitness and Martial Arts in schools and has taught Kickboxing as part of an 'Introduction to Sport' children's programme. He is involved in training adults with learning disabilities in fitness and mobility.
