Sponsored Tournament 2009

On the 28th of June 2009 we will once again be holding one of our spectacular sponsored charity tournaments in aid of The Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign.

As well as our sponsorship forms we have this year enabled a "Justgiving" internet page which can be clicked on and donations paid electronically and securely over the internet. If you would like to make a donation in this way please click on the widget/link above and start what we hope will be our greatest success to date in "Fighting for The Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign"

Thank you,
Stephen Brooks,
Head of Association

P
hoenix Schools of Martial Arts has been raising funds for charities ever since the association was formed in 1985. Stephen Brooks has both instigated and guided the association`s efforts to raise money for major charitable organisations such as The Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign, Children in Need and Dr Bernardo`s.

At Phoenix Martial Arts we quite literally fight for charity. In 1987 Stephen Brooks fought 101 black belts raising one thousand pounds. This was to be the foundation upon which Phoenix has continued to raise large, life-changing sums of money over the years for charity.

We have raised a total of one hundred and eight thousand pounds for the Royal Marsden Cancer campaign with our most recent Charity Fight in July 2007, raising a magnificent fourty thousand pounds. Our challenge for 2007 was to break all our records and raise over fourty thousand pounds for this very worthy cause and we did it smashing our previous record set in 2005 by ten thousand pounds! It was a proud moment in September 2007 when Amanda Heaton presented Stephen Brooks with The Royal Marsden's Platinum Certificate for raising one hundred and eight thousand pounds in the past eight years.

A quote from a letter to Stephen Brooks dated 12th September 2007 from Amanda Heaton reads,

“We are so very impressed by the amazing dedication and enthusiasm of the Phoenix Martial Arts Instructors and team, having organised and carried out an extremely successful event, and broken your previous record in raising over £40,000! All this and 120 fights in one day – We think you are all totally awesome!”

We all know the great  effort that goes into raising these sums of money. It is the commitment and generosity - in both time and money from instructors, students, families and friends - that makes all our efforts worthwhile.

Thank you to all who support our Charity Fights - and thank you for your generous donations.
