About PMA

Stephen Brooks, Master Instructor and Head of the Association, has trained with some of the finest Masters of the Martial Arts.

In the mid-sixties Stephen began his training at the Hillcrest Boxing Club in Coulsdon, Surrey with coach Billy English. He continued to box with long time friend and training partner Kevin Brewerton at the world-famous Thomas A. Beckett gym in the Old Kent Road, London. By the mid-seventies Stephen had become fascinated with Kung-fu and joined the Croydon Lau Gar Kung-fu School run by the legendary Neville Wray. Throughout the 70s and 80s Stephen competed successfully with team-mates Neville Wray, Kevin Brewerton and Peter Edwards, all of whom later became multiple World Champions.

In 1985 Stephen expanded his Martial Arts knowledge by training with Karate Master and President of the E.K.K.A, Mick Blackwell, and former Chairman of the English Karate Governing Body, Master Instructor Billy Brennan. Whilst training with the E.K.K.A, Stephen also studied Ju-Jitsu and at the same time Kickboxing with former World Super-Heavyweight Champion Richard Vince.
